Dennis and Norman the Twin Diesels by Galaxy-Afro Dennis and Norman the Twin Diesels by Galaxy-Afro
Built in 1949 at Ashford Works as one of the first diesel engines, Dennis worked for British Railways for an entire decade before being withdrawn from service in 1959. That same year, Dennis was purchased for the North Western Railway as a shunter. Impressed by his work ethic, Sir Charles Topham Hatt II, and the Railway Board of the North Western decided to have the Crovan's Gate Workshops build an addition unit, which became Norman. Upon the designation of the numbering system for Diesel locomotives, both Dennis and Norman became D10, and D11. ~ Afro

Edit ~ Added NWR plaque on both diesels.
